IPv6 Ready websites
April 9th, 2011At HageHosting, we pride ourselves on delivering the most powerful and up-to-date hosting on the market. That’s why we have decided to take part in World IPv6 Day this June 8, 2011. World IPv6 Dayis where major organizations and technology leaders will offer their services and content over IPv6.
The goal of the test flight day is to motivate organizations across the industry – Internet service providers, hardware makers, operating system vendors and web companies – to prepare their services for IPv6 to ensure a successful transition as IPv4 addresses run out.
Why are we adding support for IPv6?
To put it simply, the internet is running out of IPv4 addresses (i.e. 213.189.21.213, etc.). The current generation of Internet Protocol, IPv4, was created in 1980 and has only 4 billion addresses available. With all of the laptops, tablets, smart-phones, etc. it’s easy to understand why we would need to provide for more addresses.
As the internet grows, more and more users and companies will be using IPv6. This will create a natural demand for software and services to be available over IPv6. HageHosting is committed to bringing our customers the latest and best technology available.
